A new definition and a little shameless self promotion.

Look, I don't make any bones about it, I like to write. I like calling myself a writer, even though most of us can write, and don't make that big of a thing about it. So I started this blog. It is important for bloggers to immerse themselves in popular culture. It gives them something to write about.

Here is where I fail. I can't keep up. I have never watched a single episode of Game of Thrones. Not one. Apart from dragons, and violence I am not even sure what it is about. I have been told that it is almost a Lord of the Rings for adults. But, I thought Lord of the Rings was grown up enough for me. I don't really know enough to say I want to watch, or not watch.

The same is true for Doctor Who. I have seen a few bits and pieces scattered across the years. It has been around for a long time. Never watched a whole episode, though. I don't even have a favorite doctor. I always thought Basil Rathbone would have made a good doctor. He made an excellent, if drug free Sherlock Holmes.

So there are my failings. I did just get an iPhone7 Plus. Which is very pop culture. Of course it leaves me open for two years of the iPhone for seniors accusation from my lovely, kind, and slightly toxic wife. Being cool is not without costs though, so I pay for my ticket and don't complain.

And I am all up to date on The Walking Dead. Or as I like to call it, the Never Ending Dead, or the show least suited for dinner time. And I am only a couple of seasons behind on Supernatural. And it is amazingly enjoyable. I like family driven angst, and guilt mixed with mostly malignant angels, uncooperative, but occasionally useful demons and monsters old and new. It reminds me of holidays at mom's. If you leave out the occasionally useful part. Just kidding. Sometimes they were occasionally useful.

Anyway, if you want to read more of my writing it is here, and here. And of course on this blog, as well. And a couple of other blogs, and I now have a wordpress site, but I am not sure why. Sometimes I get carried away.

Wow, I Did It

I have just spent one and a half hours transferring the rest of the blogs I follow onto my blogger's dashboard. My chicken and fries dinner is sitting waiting for me but I was determined to get it done once and for all. Who says its all fun and games being a blogger. What's that? I know, no one. So I am impressed with myself.

So now that I'm done and I'm looking at the blogs I'm following I'm amazed in the seven short months I started blogging how many I have accumulated. So now I can unsubscribe from getting emails having the posts come in all in one spot.

I'm thinking that will help with not feeling so overwhelmed seeing all those emails, for some reason having them on my dashboard doesn't seem so intimidating. Now I know what Jeremy Crow from The Whacko Blog meant when he said in one of his tip posts that he diligently went through all his blogs as they came in. Or something to that effect.

Wanna see my list because I'm going to show it to you anyways. I always have to show off my hard work to my fellow blogger friends and readers.

500, read and 'em weep, but please weep quietly.

Yesterday I posted my 500th entry in this humble blog.  Five hundred is a big number, a lot of words, and some investment of time, not always a lot of thought, or any real ideas, but plenty of..., well I don't know what, but there is plenty of it.

Looking back it is still uncertain what drove that first post, so many months ago.  And I can't really say why I keep typing.  I guess, maybe, I had something to say, and maybe I still do.  Maybe, maybe I just like the idea of other people reading the things I wrote, and maybe I am just too stubborn to stop, who knows.

It seems like I should do something celebratory, something significant, but, like my reasons for starting and staying, what that would be escapes me.  We are going to a pot luck dinner at our neighbors house this evening, I might pretend that is all in honor of 500!  I will do that on surreptitiously, taking a few pictures, and acting like they are all there praising my talent, or at least my endurance.  Look for pictures here, with embellished banners and speech bubbles, later.

I have been considering changing platforms lately, maybe Wordpress, or something similar, mostly because I have a new computer, (a Surface Pro 3) and in Microsoft Word there is an option to write, format and publish my blog posts, but I can not figure out how to use the picture server to work.  (I have a Flickr, Photobucket, and Picasa account in case any of you technical wizards have any insights.)  But, at 500 I am not sure I want to change.

Recently I have started submitting work to Lefty Pop, and Find.com, and they are tied at two published submissions each, so stay tuned for updates.

That covers the past, for the most part.  Now, I need to start working on the future, and that is pretty cool.

Another Crisis Averted.

Look, I don't want to complain, but there is something troubling happening here on Google, Blogger.  Someone seems to have runoff with my password, and has added a bunch of pointless, meaningless posts.  Worse still, they seem to have made use of Dr. Dawg's Time Machine and gone backward to add these rambling, almost incoherent wastes of time over the last several years.

I would like to jump ahead and see what kind of idiocy they post in the future, but it would probably be more embarrassment than a person should have to endure.

This is awful!  Suppose I try to get a job, or start a business, or borrow money from a bank, or buy a house, or retire to a nice, sunlit community in rolling hills of Tennessee.  What then, what will these people think when they see my name tied to such incoherent, mindless drivel?!?!?!

Oh, I'm glad that crisis has passed.  Thank you Dr. Dawg.  How is the Presidential Campaign looking?
